Disposable plastic water bottles have rapidly gained popularity over the last couple of years. They are convenient to carry and store for long outings or trips, when stopping for water may not be an option. They also offer consumers a reliable source of safe drinking water, usually for a low price in a portable container. However, disposable water bottles are a giant waste of money and if not recycled properly, are responsible for occupying mass amounts of space in landfills and dumps around the United States. By purchasing a reusable plastic water bottle, consumers save time, money, and the environment.

Disposable plastic water bottles are usually only good for one or two refills, as harmful bacteria can form in bottle in warm conditions, and if left too long, water can leach plastic out of the bottle, potentially harming thirsty consumers. Safe reusable plastic water bottles are a viable option for today’s economic and environmental climate. They can save consumers hundred of dollars a year, reduce the harmful effects of plastic leeching and bacteria growth, and can provide a lifetime of use if cared for properly. They are also easy to refill and can be washed in most dishwashers, or by hand with bleach or dish soap.

Plastic water bottles that are reusable are easy to wash and refill. A plastic water bottle that costs $10 initially can save consumers mountains of cash as opposed to buying a pack of twenty one-time use bottles that need to be repurchased weekly. Safe plastic water bottles also come in a variety of colors, styles, and materials that can suit the aesthetic taste and needs of any thirsty consumer.  They can often be found for free at particular organizations and fundraisers as complementary gifts, or as a memento of participating in an event or activity.

A reusable plastic water bottle is less likely to spill or explode under extreme heat or pressure as opposed to disposable water bottles. For the thirsty consumer that would complain about the taste of tap water, they can invest in a filtered water bottle. They usually come with special screw on caps that have replaceable charcoal filters, that filter the impurities and taste of tap water. Purchasing one of these water bottles can also eliminate the use of cumbersome and costly refrigerator based water filtration systems. Filters for small reusable plastic water bottles are usually noticeably cheaper and easier to replace than the filters used for large built in or portable refrigerator units.
